Pett Level Year 8 Geography Fieldtrip May 2025

11th Jun 2025
Over the two days of 21st and 22nd May, we took Year 8 to Pett Level on the Sussex South Coast. This was for the annual Coasts fieldwork that ties in with their Coastal lesson content and also, to introduce them to Coastal Fieldwork methods.

The weather was mostly kind to us, however 8GY and B did have soggy fieldwork booklets by the end of the Tuesday trip due to a late downpour! (These are always the most memorable days!)

The pupils worked conscientiously in their groups collecting data about the beach profile, sediment analysis, effectiveness of coastal management and assessing flood risks. The greatest disappointment of the day was finding the café closed, so the expected ice creams didn’t materialise!

Pupils are now working hard on analysing their data and creating Fieldwork reports in the computer rooms, creating graphs and collecting secondary research data to support their findings.
