Congratulations to Lilia from 7T and her football team who participated in the Barcelona Girls Cup tournament 6-9th June.
The Barcelona Girls Cup is an international youth football tournament for girls, held in the south of Barcelona. IIt is a high quality tournament approved by Catalan Football Federation (FFF) and Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) designed to provide unforgettable days of football playing at a fantastic football venue with 8 full-size fields.
There were a number of tournaments across difference age groups. Lilia's team (West Kent Schools District) was in Group B, where they won 2 and lost 1 of their group matches, playing against teams from Ireland, England and Iceland. This meant that they went the next day into a little competition playing for 5th to 8th overall. They lost their first game to another English team, but then won the next one on penalties (Lilia took the first of her team's penalties and scored) against an Irish team, after a 1-1 draw to come 7th out of 16 teams. Her team did very well against tough and often older opposition.
