The Dance Championships take place throughout the year across Kent and Sussex, bringing together dancers of all ages and abilities to showcase their talent. Performances are assessed by industry professionals who provide detailed written feedback and scores based on presentation, technique, choreography and musicality. The TWGGS team (Kayla K, 7G, Thaila E and Grace N, 7Y, Adriana G, 7B, Orla S, Ellie M, 7T, Ellie C, Bethany S and Flossie L, 7W, Phoebe S, 7S, Elsie B, 8G, Maisy A, Gabby B and Samirah O, 8Y, Poppy R, 8B, Grace F, 8S, Charlotte I, 9S, Amelia B, 10G, Kathryn M, 10T, Eleanor K, 10S and Imogen C, 10I) competed at the Championships for the very first time and it was a resounding triumph!
Parents were delighted with TWGGS' success and praised both the pupils' achievements and the support provided throughout the competition process. One parent commented, 'I just wanted to thank you and congratulate you again. She was buzzing after the performance and absolutely loved taking part, so thank you for the opportunity. You were so supportive and enthusiastic with the team, and your choreography was amazing! You must be so proud.' Another added, 'Thank you for taking the girls to the competition, what a brilliant dance and result.'
Two of our talented competitors reported on their experience:
'On Saturday 6th June, 21 pupils between Year 7 and Year 10 competed at the dance championships in Sevenoaks. We competed against 10 other schools and we performed a jazz dance to a song from 'Moulin Rouge' which was so fun and upbeat. Everyone had a great time in rehearsals. This was our first ever dance competition as a school group, and we were very proud to come fourth place, winning two medals each and a trophy. The judges were lovely, and the whole experience was fun and exciting. We are so excited to compete more next year!'
