It always amazes us the amount of inventiveness and effort that goes into dressing up for World Book Day every year. Coinciding with the end of Year 7 exams, the costumes this year did not disappoint. The pupils even sat their final exam, Geography, in full costume! Year 7 had a special assembly with Mr Hodges and Miss Greenwood, where 7S won overall for the best form. The Library became a Reading Retreat as we encouraged pupils to come in for a browse or curl up with a book. There was also a fun Book Quiz on offer, with some surprisingly tricky questions and clues hidden around the library. Congratulations to Erin H (7B) who won the prize draw. We've also launched our own celebration of the National Year of Reading with a display of ‘18 Books To Read Before You’re 18’ and some of our Fan Favourites (most borrowed books). The ‘Go All In’ campaign encourages everyone to read about whatever interests them, in whatever format works for them. So audio books, ebooks, comic books, magazines, manga and graphic novels are all great options - and all can be found either in the TWGGS library or at SORA, our digital library. It was a wonderful day and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part.
