On 11th February, 25 TWGGS pupils attended a talk by the award-winning author Nathanael Lessore at the Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys. Nathanael’s bright, funny and moving books 'Steady for This' and 'King of Nothing' have featured in our book group reading lists in recent years, and he has won the Carnegie Shadowers’ Choice, Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize and the Diverse Book Award. He gave a thoroughly entertaining, honest and funny talk about his life and work, giving the audience an insight into the process of writing and publishing a novel, as well as lots of tips on creating believable and engaging characters and storylines. The pupils really enjoyed his stories (even the ones involving cockroaches!) and there were dozens of questions afterwards. He also signed copies of his books for pupils, as well as our own library copies, which we thoroughly recommend to any pupils who haven’t read them already.
