The trip started with a marathon 23-hour coach journey to Neukirchen, Austria. Although we arrived somewhat sleep-deprived, we spent the afternoon exploring the town and were treated to a traditional carnival parade which was a vibrant, cultural experience that set the tone before we settled into our hotel. The following morning, we were met with a loud and clear wake-up call from Mr Nugent, followed by a hearty breakfast to fuel the day. On the slopes, we split into ability groups for our morning sessions, followed by lunch with a view. While we were provided with packed lunches, many of us couldn't resist purchasing some local schnitzel and chips. For those of us starting from scratch, the week was filled with support and laughter; it was amazing to see our progress go from shaky snowploughing on the nursery slopes to confidently turning down the blues. The final day provided the comedy highlight of the trip. After a week of boasting that he hadn't fallen once, Mr Patterson went sliding down the mountain quite spectacularly, much to everyone's delight. However, the fun didn't stop once we left the slopes. After three-course dinners that blended British comforts with Austrian specialities, our evenings were packed with activities, including quiz night, curling, Tyrolean dancing, and watching an ice hockey match. Overall, the week was a huge success. A massive thank you to the teachers who organised the trip and looked after us, it was truly an experience we will never forget.

We had a long journey but it was definitely worth it as towards the end we had beautiful views of the mountains and everyone was excited by all of the snow. On arrival, we got straight into unpacking. It was a nice hotel with welcoming staff and lovely views. Then we took the bus and headed into the local town to buy some souvenirs for our families. Later that day, we had a big meal and settled down for the night. Every day we woke up at 6:45am, got ready for the day and then headed downstairs for breakfast. After that we would take the coach down to the slopes where, on our first day, we met our friendly instructors. We would do two hours of skiing in the morning followed by a delicious lunch at a restaurant in the mountains. Then back to the slopes for another two-and-a-half hours. We loved our experience on the slopes and learnt so much. In the evenings we would either just hang out or have an activity, such as pizza and karaoke and some Austrian dancing. However our personal favourite was ice hockey. Overall, it was a great and memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We would definitely recommend it for anyone thinking of going.
