Andalucia 2026

Andalucia 2026

4th Mar 2026

Over half term we had the opportunity to escape the English weather and enjoy five days in Spain, during which time we saw a number of historic, cultural and UNESCO-acclaimed sites, as well as trying local food and getting some much-needed vitamin D! One of our highlights was the trip to the Flamenco museum, which not only provided a valuable insight into an important part of our A Level course, but was also hugely in-depth, and told the story of Flamenco from its origins to present day, followed by a live Flamenco show. It's safe to say we were all stunned by the abilities of the dancers and left wondering how anyone can move their feet that fast…

Another highlight was undoubtedly the food, as our daily free time was often spent in a local tapas restaurant or enjoying a ‘jamón ibérico’ sandwich. This also gave us the opportunity to practise our Spanish, allowing us to learn about how Spanish is spoken in everyday life, which greatly improved our confidence. This was also helped by the tour guides at each monument, who spoke in Spanish; I definitely think this improved our understanding of each site as our full concentration was needed!

Aside from the incredible learning opportunities we had in Spain, the trip was a great success because of the harmony of the group. The well-equipped hostel meant that we were able to come together frequently in communal spaces and discuss our day, as well as enjoy breakfasts and dinners together as a big group. Despite a near-disaster when our room overslept our alarm and woke up five minutes before the coach arrived, this was followed by uncontrollable laughter minutes later.

Ultimately, we remember the trip as being filled with good memories and lots of fun, along with a few TikTok dances along the way, and we are all very glad to have had a break from A Levels and an opportunity to learn outside the classroom.
