Lower Sixth Psychology recently completed a fascinating eggsperiment where they took care of an egg- or flour-baby over the Christmas holidays, taking them everywhere (unless childcare could be arranged), in order to examine theories of attachment. Pupils were encouraged to keep a diary, and take regular photos of their baby, and write a project report on how they felt on the delivery, whether an attachment had developed and what kind of interactions they had with the babies with reference to the research conducted by Andrew Meltzoff. The pupils then explored the influence of early attachment and how this might positively affect their babies' future relationships. It appears that many of our psychologists felt they had become the primary attachment figure and formed close bonds. We thought you would like to see some photos of the young charges!
