A Level Economics Conference

A Level Economics Conference

17th Dec 2025

A group of A Level economics pupils recently attended a conference at Friends House in Central London. We had the privilege to listen to numerous speakers throughout the day. These included: Ed Balls, Stephanie Flanders, George Magnus, Torsten Bell MP, Mark Littlewood and Hugh Pym. We were able to expand our knowledge on many key economic issues and current topics such as the Chinese economy, inequality, pensioner schemes and Rachel Reeves’ Budget. Pupils from multiple schools got the opportunity to stand up in front of everyone and share their views by asking the speakers questions. An honourable mention to Abby S for winning a prize book 'The Price of Money' by Jamie Riz et. al. for asking Ed Balls a question regarding national events and how they affected the economy; it was awarded for being one of the best questions of the day! Overall it was a great day out and the speakers were all very interesting, allowing us to expand our knowledge in preparation for future exams.
