Some of Year 10 went on the exchange to Germany recently, where we visited sights such as the Cathedral in Cologne, and the Beethoven house, but most importantly we visited the Lindt factory, Haribo shop and the Lindt museum! It was such a great experience to spend a week with another family, immerse ourselves in their culture and join them in their daily lives. We filled our weekend with activities including ice skating, baking and visiting Christmas markets, in which I am certain everyone enjoyed a mug of hot chocolate or Kinderpunsch (a traditional warm, non-alcoholic German punch served during the Christmas season). The coach journeys there and back were full of excitement, music and Christmas spirit and hopefully we didn’t annoy the teachers too much! The general day-to-day was amazing, ranging from spending some time in Clara-Fey Gymnasium itself and experiencing lessons with our partners, or getting the train over to Cologne and having some free time to shop and explore! We even got to have interviews with some of the younger pupils, who were very welcoming and enjoyed asking us some random questions, and some on topic. Our exchange partners were all incredibly welcoming and planned the perfect meals and activities to keep us busy in our free time! A huge thank you must go to the teachers who came on such an incredible trip, Frau Wheeler, Frau Charlton, Frau Unwin and Frau Rogers! Our stay was something that we will remember for the rest of our lives, and we cannot wait for our partners to come back in March!
