Last Friday was European Day of Languages and we encouraged our Year 7's to take part in a Cake Competition inspired by a European country. We were overwhelmed by the number of entries we received, over 60! The judging was very hard as we had some incredible creations. We would like to thank all who took part, as the bake sale at lunchtime raised some extremely valuable funds for our Term's Charity.
The 2025 winners for each category were:
Cookies: Lily E and Lily E with their beautifully decorated Lebkuchen.
Traditional: Harriet B with a Bulgarian Cake, Josephine I with with a Norwegian Apple cake and Olivia F with her Dutch Lattice Top Apple Pie which had a full recipe written in Dutch too!
Use of Language: Caroline M with her cake decorated with the German for 'Grammar School for Girls' and Millie H's Portuguese Pastel de Nata with a detailed recipe in Portuguese.
Showstoppers: Khadijah A with her beautiful cake featuring a Tower of Pisa, and Kirsty W and Eleanor N gave us a stunning Paris-themed cake.
