A Celebration of Asian Heritage at TWGGS

A Celebration of Asian Heritage at TWGGS

15th Jul 2025
On Friday 11th July, we were very proud to celebrate the ethnic diversity of our pupil body via lessons that aimed to inspire pupils to broaden their horizons and view education through a variety of viewpoints and perspectives.

The pupil body of TWGGS is increasingly diverse and every member of staff at TWGGS recognises our responsibility to deliver a curriculum that is representative of our community. Staff have been working to decolonise our curricular offering for a number of years, while reviewing and evaluating our school culture as we pursue our goal of TWGGS being a school where everyone can be their authentic selves. This day was part of that change and our aim was to make this a celebratory occasion that challenged pupils with the high expectations that we always aim to maintain.

As well as the curriculum offering, pupils could also take part in a henna workshop - an activity that was hugely oversubscribed - and if pupils of Asian heritage wished to wear clothes that celebrated that heritage then they were warmly invited to do so.

We hope that everyone who experienced the wide range of fantastic and imaginative lessons felt that air of celebration. We are very proud of our whole community for coming together to make the day so special, and something to be extremely proud of.
