We were delighted with the fantastic attendance of the first free after school hockey coaching on Wednesday, delivered by Tunbridge Wells Hockey Club (TWHC).
Martin Rohan, Head of Juniors at TWHC, commented “the attendance was beyond my expectations and seeing how keen and engaged the girls were made starting this free extracurricular hockey initiative even more worthwhile.”
Training takes place on the Astroturf pitch; the school will provide hockey sticks which pupils can use should they wish. It is compulsory that any pupil who takes part in training wears shin pads. TWHC will have a small supply of mouthguards for pupils to take home after week one if pupils enjoy their first session, although it is highly advised that pupils come prepared with these already. Mouthguards will be compulsory from week two.
These sessions are offered for all levels, whether your child is a total beginner who would like to try the sport, through to experienced players.
Please note that it is Open Evening on 28th September, so the next session will be on Wednesday 5th October at 4pm.
We encourage more pupils to take advantage of this amazing opportunity for extracurricular sport at TWGGS.
TWHC also offer junior hockey training every Sunday throughout the hockey season. For more information and details on how to join, please visit the TWHC website.
