Year 7 Go to Dover Castle

Year 7 Go to Dover Castle

21st Oct 2026

Our Year 7 pupils visited Dover Castle to study its history and defensive role over the past 1,000 years. Situated above the White Cliffs, Dover Castle has served as a key defensive position throughout British history and, during the trip, pupils examined how the castle's structure and function adapted over time to protect the coast from potential invasions. They had the opportunity to tour the reconstructed 12th century Great Tower built during the reign of King Henry II to learn about medieval court life, walk along the castle ramparts to observe the strategic geography of the English Channel, and explore the Medieval Spur tunnels that played a role during the First Barons' War against King John. The Year 7 group engaged well with the exhibits and site guides throughout the day, so a special thank you goes to the staff members who accompanied and supervised the visits, and we look forward to seeing the medieval heralds completed for homework.
