Joint Concert with The Skinners’ School

Pupils from TWGGS and The Skinners’ School combined forces for a marvellous evening of joint music-making on Tuesday, 28th April. The concert showcased the incredibly diverse range of talent from both schools, featuring a combined orchestra performing Vaughan Williams and a Massed Choir delivering a beautiful rendition of Bainton’s anthem ‘And I Saw a New Heaven’.

The Chamber Choir impressed with two movements from Fauré’s Requiem, accompanied by the organ and small chamber ensemble, followed by a lively performance of 'New York Girls'. TWGGS Jazz Choir and Jazz Band performed Sting’s 'Fragile' alongside an original composition by Candela (Upper Sixth), while the Skinners’ Folk Band thrilled the audience with their version of 'Byker Hill', with audience participation for the chorus.

The Skinners’ School Headteacher Mr Edward Wesson closed the evening by thanking the pupils and staff for their immense hard work. He noted that such collaborations are vital for development, fellowship, trust and mutual support that extends beyond the classroom, and gives us a wider sense of collective belonging.

Leavers’ Concert

On Wednesday 6th May, our school hall transformed into a lively café-style venue to celebrate the extraordinary musical talent and achievements of our Upper Sixth pupils. Guests enjoyed refreshments provided by our wonderful PTA while experiencing a diverse programme of music. The performances spanned the pupils' entire school journey, ranging from Year 7 favourites - including the infamous, fancy-dress-clad ‘Sheep, Sheep, Sheep’ - to moving songs about new beginnings and impressive original compositions. This beautiful trip down memory lane proved deeply emotional, concluding with Dr Blanch handing out tissues to tearful pupils, staff, and parents alike. A huge thank you goes to everyone who organised and supported this unforgettable evening, with a special mention to Candela, our fantastic outgoing Music Rep, for all her hard work.
