Sixteen TWGGS pupils from Years 11 to Upper Sixth took part in the school round of the Economics Olympiad, along with 105 other UK schools. This is the first year in which the UK has taken part in this competition. The winner was Abby S (U6Y). Participants had to answer 25 tough Economics multiple choice questions, ranging from factual knowledge through to economic intuition and problem solving. Congratulations to all who took part; they will shortly be receiving a certificate. At the time of writing, we are not sure whether anybody from the school has progressed to the regional final but we will update you with any news. Additionally, on the 28th January, 60 Year 10 pupils sat the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. Hollie G (10W) was awarded a Gold certificate, was Best In School and has qualified for the next round, the UKMT Pink Kangaroo. Ten Silver and 23 Bronze certificates were also awarded. Well done to all our pupils for their efforts and congratulations to our top performers.
