We have had some amazing hockey news recently. Isabella B, 9T, and Matilda C, 9B, represented their club, Sevenoaks, at the international hockey tournament at Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. The girls played superbly and were second out of ten teams in their Infantil Femenino competition. It was a super opportunity to play opponents again from across Europe and beyond. We also have a match report from Isla B and Alice M who played in the recent National quarter-finals:

The TWGGS U16 squad took part in the quarter-final National hockey match against Priorsfield School on the 10th of December. It was a tight game with Priorsfield, in the first few minutes, scoring a post tap in. TWGGS persevered and after a long battle for the ball (with both sides evenly matched) and a few attempted shots on goal, TWGGS scored an excellent team goal, finished with a perfect tap in from Ruby J. The tight game continued until half time where the score was left at 1-1; TWGGS had many opportunities and knew they could gain more goals in the second half. 

In the second half TWGGS started off strong, they had many attempted shots on goals and were quickly able to win a short corner. With a clean shot on goal, Alice M had scored another goal for TWGGS. It wasn't long before TWGGS had won another short corner, although the first shot was saved by Priorsfield's goalie. TWGGS were able to pass the ball around the goal sending a shot to the back post where Rachel E deflected it into the corner scoring another goal for TWGGS. TWGGS' defence played excellently, defending the goal until the full time whistle blew. TWGGS had a well-deserved win sending them through to the National semi-finals.
