Just before half term, the second Naples trip took place and everyone had an amazing time. Mariella, Year 11, wrote a report for us about her experiences on the trip:
'The Naples trip had to be the best school trip I’ve ever been on. During such an important and often stressful school year, this trip was the perfect opportunity to take a break and start this year off positively: balancing enrichment and fun with a combination of learning, culture and, most of all, fun! Every day brought something new and unforgettable.
Personally, my favourite activity had to be visiting Vesuvius. The unreality of standing on the volcano which buried and destroyed cities, such as Pompeii and Herculaneum, was beyond comparison. The tours around these preserved cities were incredible, presenting the way of life at the time: the activities they did, the buildings in which they lived and worked and even the inventions they incorporated into their architecture such as running water and pizza ovens, both of which are similar to what we use today. And of course, the authentic pizza and local gelato we learned to make were delicious and unforgettable! I am endlessly grateful to TWGGS and the teachers who worked together to organise this amazing trip, as well as those who attended who made the experience even better. Though I’m disappointed it is over, I’ll cherish the memories I made forever: the amazing history and experiences, beautiful views and laughter.'
