Congratulations to our sailing superstar, Rachel E, who has recently travelled to two world championships in different classes of boat. Firstly to France for the RS Feva World Championships, held in Aix-le-Bains. Conditions were quite testing with some very unpredictable wind shifts so Rachel, and her partner, Laura, were thrilled to finish third girls' team. Rachel then travelled directly to Porto in Portugal for the 29er World Championships. This class of boat is much more challenging to sail and is a youth class (rather than junior). Rachel is one of the youngest sailors in the class at 14 years old, with other competitors reaching the age of 21. She surprised everyone by finishing 44th in the world, which was fourth British boat, with her partner Tom. She is focusing more on the 29er going forwards, and has travelled to Newcastle recently for a national competition and national squad selector, where she finished third overall, winning the last race. We wish her every success in her future endeavours.
