A whole raft of rewards were reaped by TWGGS skiers at the Kent Schools’ 2019 Ski Championships at Chatham Ski Centre, with TWGGS 1 team placed first in the Female Secondary Senior Team and first Female Secondary Overall.
Team members Evie, Rebecca, Sophie and Kathryn were drawn from Years 11, 10 and 8. Meanwhile, Years 7 and 8 members of TWGGS 2 gained first place in the Female Secondary Junior team, and TWGGS 3 were rewarded with the third place medal; these teams were Lila, Katy, Harriet and Millie, and Isobel, Tallulah, Amelie and Maisie, respectively.
Amelie and Maisie were members of the first and second placed secondary fun teams, while Katy enjoyed third place in the same competition.
The competition on 12th May was the culmination of hard work and training that began in December. All of the TWGGS team skied fantastically on the day, with two timed slalom runs in the morning and a dual slalom team race in the afternoon.
Training will shortly begin again and new members are always welcome; no race experience is necessary, although girls need to be able to safely ski a blue run with controlled turns. Please contact Mrs Ralph, email@example.com, if you are interested in joining the team.
