Open days and evenings

There is no better way to appreciate the special community feel of TWGGS than by visiting the school, and the best way to do so is at an open event, where both staff and current pupils have the time and opportunity to speak with you directly. However, due to COVID-19, all large open events have had to be cancelled. Until we can fully open our doors to visitors again, we invite you take a virtual tour of our buildings by clicking on the video below. This was produced by our Head Girl Team for new Year 7 pupils joining the school and, therefore, is directed very much towards the pupil experience. There are two more videos preparing Year 6 pupils for life at TWGGS under Year 7 Admissions, which you may wish to view.

Open Event Talks

At our usual Open Evening, Mrs Wybar gives a speech welcoming prospective pupils and their parents/carers. Year 7 pupils and our Head Girl also speak, giving a flavour of life at TWGGS from both ends of a school career. This year, our talks have gone online, to hopefully give you some further insight into what to expect at TWGGS.

For 2021 Entry to Year 7 and Sixth Form

Year 6 Pupil Individual Tours for entry in September 2021

Due to our large open events not being able to run this year, as a result of Covid-19, we are able to offer individual tour sessions twice daily, on Monday to Thursday. Each tour will only be able to accommodate 6 families and will only be available when booked directly through the school website.

  • Priority MUST be given to pupils who are currently in Year 6
  • Each family is limited to up to 2 adults plus a Year 6 child for social distancing purposes
  • Each family will be assigned one guide and a specific route to follow.
  • Please could all adults wear masks unless unable to do so and adhere to a 2 metre distance.

Please access the booking link under School Tours; you will need to provide names, emails and contact numbers for adults attending and the name, date of birth and current school year for your child. Please note that this data will be retained for 21 days after your visit for the NHS Test and Trace Service, after which time it will be securely destroyed. Once the session is full, I am afraid we cannot accommodate any additional bookings.

We are unable to offer our usual talks by Mrs Wybar, the Head Girl and a Key Stage 3 pupil during these sessions, however, these will be available to view remotely on the school website. Admissions staff will be present at the end of your tour for any questions you may have.

We hope it will be possible for Year 5 to visit the school later in the year.

Should you require any further information, please email the Admissions Team on adminsupport@twggs.kent.sch.uk

Year 5 Open Morning and Individual Tours of the School

We are hoping to offer an Open Morning to Year 5 pupils on 30th June 2021. Details and times will be confirmed nearer the date.

However, if you are the parents of a current Year 5 pupil, you are welcome to book in to an individual tour of the school. Please visit our School Tours page for further details.

Sixth Form Options Evening

Unfortunately, we are unable to run our Sixth Form Options Evening for Year 11 this year, due to the restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are, however, able to offer individual tours for prospective Sixth Form students who are new to TWGGS. Please visit the School Tours page for further information on how to book.
