It was a total delight to catch up with five generations of Head Girl Teams, all of whom have generously given up their time to see the Legacy Project develop into an established and important aspect of school life. Championing female empowerment and discussing challenging issues, such as consent and sexual harassment, this project had grown from strength to strength over the years. Now in its fifth year, we wanted to bring back as many team members as possible to celebrate winning our Gold Feminista Award, but also to reflect on the collective impact of all involved since the project began. It was really special for the current Head Girl and Boy Teams at TWGGS and Skinners’ to talk to their predecessors about the collaborative workshop they have already facilitated, bravely tackling the impact of the Manosphere on young people. This year’s prefects were also able to soak up the wisdom and life experiences of our TWGGS alumni who, since leaving us, have either studied in the UK or abroad as undergraduates. It was particularly heartwarming to hear Freya (Head Girl in 2020, who has just graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Biology) speak so warmly about how TWGGS prepared her for the future, able to advocate for herself as a young woman on her gap year, at university and now in the wider world. As the Legacy Project continues to grow, we look forward to continued collaboration with Skinners’, which is already off to a really strong start. We are also excited to see what our Head Girl Team organise for pupils lower down the school ‘in house’ at TWGGS, particularly in recognition of International Women's Day later this year. We are incredibly proud of all the pupils who have contributed so generously to this project. Here’s to the next five years of Legacy!
