TWGGS Skis to Success!

24th Jun 2026

The TWGGS ski racing team entered three teams into the Kent Schools Championships recently. Over 200 racers competed across two timed slalom runs on Chatham’s 200m dry slope.

The hard work and consistent weekly training at Bowles clearly paid off, with the TWGGS girls dominating the female field. Five girls achieved top ten finishes in their timed runs, with Lorraine D-S taking second place overall in the Secondary Senior category.

Team results were equally impressive. The TWGGS B team - Eloise D-S, 8W, Isabella B, 9T and Jess P, 9S - claimed victory in the CAT2 section (Years 7–9), whilst The TWGGS A team - Lorraine D-S, 10T, Amelie W and Ellie K, 8W, and Clara J, 9S - secured second place in the CAT3 section (Year 10+) despite three of them skiing above their age category.

The TWGGS C team, made up of our newest racers - Alie O, 8T, Isabella B, 7W and Isla T, 8W - showed exceptional determination and skill throughout the competition. They achieved huge improvements between runs and should be extremely proud of their performances.

The individual races were followed by an exciting dual slalom knockout competition, where all ages of racers were paired at random to compete head-to-head down the slope. Several TWGGS pupils progressed through multiple rounds, with Amelie finishing fourth overall.

Congratulations to all the girls for their outstanding effort, incredible achievements and unrivalled team spirit - they were certainly the most enthusiastic supporters of the day!

The ski racing team is always open to new members. If your child is interested in joining, please email twggsskiteam@gmail.com.
