Year 8 TWGGS pupil Imogen had an amazing experience over the half term break. Imogen has successfully completed the Racing Academy sponsored by the Pony Racing Authority, which enables children to experience racing when they otherwise would not have the opportunity. 

 

The opportunity to participate and to race at Lingfield was facilitated by the stables where Imogen rides, Ghyll Park.

 

Over the last twelve weeks, Imogen has trained alongside six of her friends from the stables in preparation for Race Day. Training has been intense, and has covered safety, care of the ponies and getting them race ready, and jockey racing position, as well as working on fitness and endurance.

 

Imogen took part in the 148cm class, an 8 furlong race, alongside five of her friends and rode one of the riding school ponies called Pepper.  Imogen crossed the finish line and placed an incredible 4th (out of 12). Congratulations to Imogen on her commitment and her achievement.
